Venice Beach, CA, On May 10th, thirty-seven (37) years ago, as a solution to homelessness culture on Skid Row, downtown Los Angeles, in the name of public health and safety, the City and County of Los Angeles bulldozed Justiceville, the first proactive, politically savvy encampment of homeless persons.
Instead of working with this self-empowering, tiny village of circa 70 human beings into a productive, symbiotic neighborhood asset, until a better resolution can devised and implemented, the government elected to destroy it, arresting fourteen inhabitants, scattering them back into the streets, re-adding to the health and safety threat, that Justiceville had abated.
This unnecessary travesty became the initial spark that ignited a now 37 years’, practice that has repetitiously and insanely failed, i.e., shutting down encampments, and scattering their inhabitants into other neighborhoods, as in the recent of case of the Venice Beach Ocean Front Walk matter.
In fact, this very practice is what caused the victorious, Justiceville, “Defense of Necessity” of the October 1985 court case which is the foundation of the now Jones and Boise Acts, etc., that has subsequently generated the massive, encampment explosions throughout LA, Ninth Circuit Court States, including Hawaii, and throughout our county’s Republic.
Now, LA City and County are jointly confronted with another game changing, encampment opportunity to accomplish what could have done 37 years ago, thereby preventing todays’ growing disaster.
Therefore, being not interested in their grand, far off plans for “emergency declarations”, housings, more tax money spending, etc., after presumably elected to office, but rather, We the People summon them to tell us what they will do “Right Here, Right Now! Right To Where?”, concerning this encampment.
Summoned by: Justiceville 501-c3 corporation, on behalf the neighborhood residents
Invited Candidates Thus Far: LA Sheriff, Alex Villanueva, for LASD Sheriff; LAX Police Chief, Cecil Rhambo, for LASD Sheriff; Attorney, David Lozano, for CA Governor.
